Jerome Grisanti began dancing as a very young person in 1977, joining his
brothers and sister in the Italian Heritage Dancers in Louisville Kentucky
under the direction of Marie and Frank Cassady.
He rediscovered his passion for dance when he was invited to a contra dance
in 1999, and has been dancing on a regular basis since then.
He enjoys calling contras (of course) and square dances. He also enjoys
dancing and calling English country dances, and co-founded the Lawrence
(Kansas) English Country Dancers with Jill and Greg Allen. One particular
pleasure of the English dances has been the chance to reconnect with Marie
Cassady, who recently turned 100 and is still dancing.
Jerome’s enthusiasm for dance comes through in his clear teaching and
prompting. His musical vocal style and sense of humor have won appreciation
from dancers and even inspired a set of "groupies" who created a Jerome
T-shirt. On a lark. I think.
